I seem to sneaking hearts into a lot of things right now. Must be something special tomorrow :0)
I’ve got lovely buns to share with you today that are a little bit different but still homey enough to appeal to everyone.
Cardamon and Saffron Buns
I started with 2 cups of warm water, 2 T yeast and 1 T sugar.
Once foamy (about 3 minutes) add 2 T tumeric, a fat pinch of saffron (1/2 tsp) and 1/2 tsp of whole cardamon seeds.
Pour in 1 cup water, 1/2 cup milk, 1/4 cup oil and 1 egg.
Bring the whole thing together with 8 cups of flour.
Turn onto a flour counter and let rest for 5 minutes.
Roll to 1/2 an inch thick.
Cut into four and sprinkle with 1/4 cup of raisin on each section.
Roll one side (lengthwise) into the centre and repeat with the other side.
Cut into 1 1/2 inch slices and place into greased baking pan (this recipe makes 2 9X11 pans).
Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees or until the bottoms are golden.
See what I mean about the hearts?
Tomorrow, I’ll be posting the ultimate Valentine night treat.
geesh…your pictures are looking stinking good! These buns look amazing! (as I am a complete and utter grown-up I will refrain from the numerous snarky comments that could be made)
I wish I can grab a piece from the last pic!!!
I've been having a ball with my camera and one of my favourite things is making bread. I know it's weird but I find it super soothing.
Janel, being a grown-up…VERY overrated :0)
These look so yummy! I would love for you to come by and link up to my Recipe Party at The Sweet Spot!
Oh YUM! I will have to use gluten free flour, but would love to make these. The pictures are wonderful.
