How about the amazing Pixiekids toys giveaway?
There’s still time :0)
I’ve mentioned before that I’m lucky enough to have a Newfoundland contingent in my life.  One of the many, many reasons why I’m happy to have them there is that I’m often invited for dinner.
To be specific; Jiggs dinner.
If you haven’t had this before you must:
1) hunt down some folks from Newfoundland
2) make them like you
3) show up at their house when there’s a kitchen party and feast on this amazing meal.
What is it?
Salt beef boiled with veg and usually roast beef and lots of gravy.
Ok, I’m not really selling it with that description but trust me.
It’s amazing.
Just don’t do shots of screech unless you want things to get a bit hazy fast.
So what to bring to such a feast?
I didn’t want to bring anything with huge flavours because this is a special meal that does not need to compete to be centre stage.
How about buns?
Good, but slightly boring.
How about bacon and cheese buns?
I’ve got 2 cups of warm water, 1 T. honey and 2 tsp. yeast in here.  I let it bubble and added 2 T. oil (first press canola or olive oil is great).
Start adding flour; in total this recipe needed 5 cups of flour (I used 1/2 white and 1/2 whole wheat).
Add 1 T. chopped garlic (I had some roasted, jarred stuff).
Knead on a floured counter for 2-3 minutes.
Roll two 1/4 inch and spread with 1 cup of shredded cheddar and 2/3 cup crumbled bacon (you can leave that out if you’d like).
Roll up.
Cut into 1 1/2 thick rolls and top with a sprinkle of freshly, grated parmesan.
Bake at 350 for roughly 20 minutes or until the bottoms are browned.
Yep, I like them so much I even wanted another look.
Sing a Stan Roger’s tune while you eat :0)
