To be honest I’ve really been hankering for a sophisticated pumpkin perhaps bejewelled to put on my new front porch but this is who I live with:
and she likes to do crafts on Saturdays. I’m a novice at this so I’ve been doing lots of research (I’m a teacher, this is what I do) and have seen really cool paint that is homemade and if someone (see smiling face above) eats it Mommy isn’t going to have to phone poison control.
Don’t worry, I’ll get to the pumpkin.
So one of the people at work mentioned that they used to just take;
1 cup cornstarch and 1/2cup cold water. Mix, mix, mix.
1 cup cornstarch and 1/2cup cold water. Mix, mix, mix.
Then slowly add in 2 1/4 cups of boiling water. It magical changes into paint. It really does.
Then I divided it into four jars and tinted it with food colouring.
Next I carved out (it’s purposely rough) our house number.
And let the kiddo have at it!
Ok, it doesn’t look like it but she does have pants on.
It’s even better if you really whale on it.
Ok, Martha Stewart would freak at this pumpkin. She would not allow it anywhere near her magazine, house, country…but it’s my kiddo’s first pumpkin and afterwards we created pictures with the rest of the paint.
