We camped a lot when I was a kid-like all summer kind of camping. We would all go to the library before we left and stock-up. It seemed like we only came home to clean and go to the library again. It was awesome.
One of my favourite parts was the treats; hot dogs-on-a-stick, bannock-on-a-stick and of course, s’mores (notice the on-the-stick theme). With elderly parents, an 18 month old and this seemingly endless build occuring-camping hasn’t worked out for us.
I have been craving s’mores and decided to give a s’mores cake a whirl.
I took 2 cups of graham cracker crumbs, 1/3 cup of sugar and the same of melted butter.
Mix and press into a buttered, 9×11 pan. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
While you’re waiting make a vanilla cake. I made my regular yellow butter cake batter but honestly this dessert would be just as nice with a cake mix.
Pour into the prepared botttom.
Dot the batter with chunks of dark chocolate and bake until a knife comes clean when the cake is poked.
While still hot cover in marshmallows.
When everything is cool get out your blowtorch and have a bit of fun.
Devour. Almost as good as camping but with few bugs.
